Making voicemail better is not something most people think about. It’s one of those ubiquitous facts of modern life and we don’t usually give it much thought. Until it screws up!
I recently purchased a new, unlocked, unbranded Android smartphone and discovered it had no voicemail app. Since the phone had no carrier associated, there was no voice mail installed at all. Most of us don’t realize the carrier adds those apps! That’s when I discovered YouMail.
YouMail has been around since 2007 and is one of the highest rated visual voicemail apps out there. Compared to the v-mail apps on my previous phones, YouMail is a huge step up! The app installed quickly and walked me through the setup flawlessly. Once installed it even called me to make sure everything was in order. But it was after that the real fun began!
The basic version of the app is free and does what you’d expect. It records a caller’s message and plays it back for you. But if you poke around a little you’ll find some really impressive features. My favorite (and this is free) is the customized outgoing message that greets callers by name! There are also humorous greetings, quick call blocker, auto-reply, voice-to-text, automatic forwarding and more.
Give it a try and see what you think…
