Hydrogen-Powered Concept by Mercedes Benz

Behold the ener-G-force by Mercedes Benz.

The fuel cell-powered concept vehicle was designed for the 2012 Los Angeles Design Challenge as a “Highway Patrol Vehicle for 2025.” The zero emission SUV features LED lighting, a pull out toolbox in the spare tire wheel compartment and on onboard topography scanner.

MB says “the ener-g-force is the vision of an off-roader that, while reflecting
tomorrow’s adventures, also invokes the genes of the mercedes-benz off-road icon.”

We say the powertrain is super cool. The fuel cell provides a range of 500 miles and hub-motors mounted in each wheel provide traction. Transfer case? No thanks.

New Camp Stove Goes Off the Grid

One of the most clever camping gadgets we’ve seen since the Noah Tarp by Kelty is this awesome little camping stove from BioLite.

The stove burns wood but uses a thermoelectric generator to run a fan that makes the fire ultra efficient. Think of it like a miniature blast furnace. The electrical energy can also be used to charge small electrical appliances- like a phone or MP3 player.

Weighing only 33 ounces the makers claim a liter of water can be brought to a boil in only 4 1/2 minutes using less than 2 ounces of wood. A home version is also in the works.
