Volvo Goes All-Electric

Think EVs are a passing fancy?
The folks at Volvo apparently disagree. The Chinese-owned carmaker announced ambitious plans to electrify their entire lineup by model year 2019.

Volvo is done with entirely traditional engines and exclusively gas-powered vehicles, the company announced. By 2019, Volvo group intends to offer only either fully electric or hybrid engines on all new models, making it the first automaker to commit to using only alternative drive trains. Gogoro Smartscooter

In January an unknown company debuted an electric scooter. But they didn’t travel to Milan or Frankfort— they rolled it out at CES, the Consumer Electronic Show.

That makes sense because the Gogoro Smartscooter is part gadget, part transportation and part fashion. You could call it the Tesla of scooters. Brammo Electric Motorcycle

According to the company website the Brammo Empulse is destined for a showroom near you. Soon.

The electric bike is capable of doing 100 plus. That’s 100 mile range and over 100 mph top speed. Plus it looks seriously cool!

Visitors to the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, CA can see more electric bikes from the company beginning February 9, 2012.
